Aiper Scuba X1 Pro Max and Aiper HydroComm Pro

Why we tested it

The Aiper Scuba X1 Pro Max and HydroComm Pro bundle caught our attention by promising a truly holistic approach to pool maintenance. While most robotic cleaners focus solely on submerged surfaces, this system integrates surface skimming with deep-end scrubbing and real-time water monitoring. We wanted to see if this 'all-in-one' claim holds up against the reality of complex pool debris and varying water chemistry. By combining 8,500 GPH suction power with the HydroComm’s data-driven insights, Aiper attempts to solve the fragmentation of pool care tools. We tested this to determine if the convenience of a unified, sensor-heavy ecosystem justifies the premium investment compared to purchasing separate, specialized maintenance devices.

Who it's for

This system is designed for owners of large, high-end in-ground pools up to 3,230 square feet who prioritize hands-free automation. It is ideal for those dealing with heavy surface debris like leaves and pollen, as the integrated skimmer eliminates the need for manual net work. However, budget-conscious buyers or those with small, simple pool layouts may find the feature set and price point excessive. If you prefer a lightweight, simple-to-handle device, the substantial build and weight of this unit might be overkill for your specific maintenance needs.

Real-world performance

In real-world operation, the Scuba X1 Pro Max demonstrates impressive versatility. The 9-motor system allows it to transition seamlessly from floor scrubbing to waterline cleaning, while the surface skimming mode effectively clears floating leaves and pollen. Users report that the 4-sensor navigation is highly effective at mapping irregular pool shapes, rarely getting stuck on stairs or corners. The 8,500 GPH suction is undeniably strong, capturing fine particles down to 3 microns. However, some feedback suggests the chassis materials feel less premium than the price tag implies. While the HydroComm Pro provides useful water monitoring data, the primary value remains the robot's ability to handle the entire water column. It is a high-performance machine that excels in large, demanding environments, provided the user is comfortable with its substantial physical footprint.
