Why we tested it
The TourBox Elite Plus - Arctic Series caught our attention by finally bridging the gap between desktop-grade creative control and mobile workflows. While previous consoles were tethered to PC or Mac, this iteration introduces native support for iPadOS and Android tablets, solving the long-standing frustration of digital artists who lacked tactile precision on mobile devices. We tested it to see if it could truly maintain a consistent, high-performance workflow across platforms. It stands out from standard macro pads by offering a specialized, ergonomic layout designed specifically for brush adjustments, canvas rotation, and parameter tweaking, effectively replacing the need for repetitive keyboard shortcuts in professional creative software.
Who it's for
This device is essential for professional digital illustrators, video editors, and photographers who split their time between a desktop workstation and a tablet. If you use software like Procreate, Photoshop, or DaVinci Resolve and find yourself constantly reaching for keyboard shortcuts or struggling with touch-only interfaces, this console will significantly streamline your process. However, casual users or those who rely solely on mouse-and-keyboard workflows without needing complex, multi-app customization may find the $297 price point difficult to justify. It is a specialized tool for power users who prioritize speed and ergonomic comfort over simplicity.
Real-world performance
In real-world application, the TourBox Elite Plus delivers a highly responsive experience. Users report that the haptic feedback on the dials provides a satisfying, tactile confirmation when adjusting brush sizes or scrubbing through video timelines. The integration with major apps like Clip Studio Paint and Lightroom is seamless, allowing for fluid canvas rotation and precise slider manipulation that feels more natural than mouse input. While the initial setup in the TourBox Console software requires time to map specific functions, the ability to save profiles for different applications ensures a consistent workflow. The Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity remains stable, and the device's compact, ergonomic design fits comfortably into a mobile creative kit, making it a reliable companion for both studio work and on-the-go editing.
